PhD student or postdoctoral researcher (m/f/d)

Bioinorganic Chemistry Group

The research group of Professor Corinna R. Hess currently has positions available in the area of bioinorganic chemistry, with a focus on the development of molecular transition metal photocatalysts.

Details
Entry date:
as soon as possible
Volume of employ-ment:
full-time 40h / week (suitable for part-time employment)
Salary:
TV-L E13
Duration:
temporary for an appropriate duration

We offer:

  • Aspects of our research are part of the International Doctorate Program on Photo-Electro-Catalysis and CRC 325, Assembly Controlled Chemical Photocatalysis, providing numerous opportunities for collaborative projects, and potential connections to industry
  • Team members are encouraged to present their work at both national and international conferences, and to attend research-specific workshops (both at UR and other univerristies), providing them with excellent opportunities for networking and career development.
  • We use a range of analytical methods including inorganic spectroscopy (e.g., absorption, EPR, Mössbauer spectroscopy), electrochemistry, and some computational work. Therefore, candidates will have the opportunity to develop a diverse set of research skills.

Your tasks:

  • Candidates will join our team to work on the development of earth-abundant transition metal complexes as catalysts for small molecule (e.g. CO2 reduction) and organic functionalization reactions.
  • The research will entail the synthesis of new coordination complexes comprised of first row transition metals, their characterization via a range of spectroscopic and analytical methods, and reactivity studies.
  • In addition to research, PhD students and postdocs will participate in teaching of bachelor-level practicals and courses.

Your profile:

  • We are seeking highly motivated students to join our team. Candidates should have good team-work skills.
  • Candidates for PhD positions should hold a Master’s degree in Chemistry, have experience in organic synthesis or coordination chemistry and good knowledge of basic spectroscopic methods (NMR, IR, UV-vis).
  • Postdoctoral candidates should further have a strong background in molecular chemistry and catalysis. Prior research experience in photochemistry or organometallic chemistry is particularly welcome.

We support women and strongly encourage them to apply. As a certified family-friendly university, we support our employees in balancing family and career (more information: https://www.uni-regensburg.de/universitaet/jobs-und-karriere/familien-service). Applicants with a disability as discribed in SGB IX (§ 2 Abs. 2, 3) will be preferred in case of equal qualifications. Please indicate any severe disability in your application, if applicable. Application and interview costs can not be refunded.
